embodied,
a woman.
embodied.
and proud.
she knows.
she is.
she’s everything
you vowed
you would become.
she’s everything you lust.
she’s affable,
efficacious,
she’s someone
you can trust.
she’s the morning star Venus.
she’s bare feet on warm earth.
she’s the promise of Neverland.
she’s the personification of mirth.

except                         when                          she’s

not.

and some days,
she is not.

some days she embodies
only
her brokenness
her loneliness
her shame.

yet she is still so beautiful.

so beautiful,
in that castle
of pain.

I suppose that she is both.
I suppose I had failed to see
that she is both relentless lion
and fragile bird
a radiant and worn

Calliope.
