The End of the Apocalypse

The End of the Apocalypse

I begin here

At the end of the world

And you laugh

When I say apocalypse

Can bring you back to life

But haven’t you seen the flowers

That sprout from scorched earth?

Haven’t you seen hope

In the darkest depths of decay?

You tell me things are ending

But all I see

Is a second chance

You are trapped in dark

But even as you burn me

To bring yourself light

You cannot set me aflame

Because I will only begin again

Newer than before

Lighter than before

And still I will grow

Through all that dies

From all that was

To everything I am now

You have brought me life

In forsaking me

You have brought hope

In resenting me

Because who are you

To tell me

How much I am yet to grow?

Who are you

To keep me

From everything I am yet to be?

You were the apocalypse

But I am what comes after

Your words will not turn my head

When I have already walked away

And your hate cannot stop me

From falling in love again
