On tuesday 8th of February, it was brought to the attention of the Lot’s Wife 2022 team that the authorships of works on our website had been removed. Upon further investigation, it appears that every single piece posted to our website has had its author profile removed, stripping it from its correct accreditation to the writer. We have been working very closely with the MSA to come to the bottom of how this happened, but unfortunately there is no clear answer. We believe that following a recent wordpress data breach, the website carrier did a mass delete of users that did not have a verified email address. What we do know is that there is no quick fix to this problem either.
Here at Lot’s Wife, we value all of our writers, contributors and readers. This is why, today, we are telling you all what has happened. We understand the importance of your contributions and never want you to think we take this for granted.
There are a large number of steps we are taking to ensure that this never happens again including installing plugins onto our website so we can track changes and revert them. You will find in the linktr.ee in our bio, a link to a google form where we encourage all contributors over the years to fill in. Because we don’t have access to all the archives, we want to ensure the correct pseudonyms are used, even on our oldest pieces. We will also be placing the author names in multiple spots on the works, so in case something were to happen, you as the writer, still are being credited no matter what.
This is going to take quite some time to fix, so we thank you in advance for your patience while we work hard to resolve this. We understand this is incredibly difficult news to hear, and if there is anything we can do to support you in this, please reach out to us via our email, or any DMs on our social media. This was quite shocking news to us to hear, but we wanted to let you all know as soon as possible.
