The days of arsenic are over
Now, I sit on a throne
of elegies and wear
my crown of limericks
I am lodestar lonesome,
firing up the firmament
(unless I don’t)
I am mobster loathsome,
murmuring to hired brutes
(unless I’m not)
I am priest and heretic,
blaspheming the creed I preach
I am me,
whoever that is
And now,
I live true,
shaking off
the blue blaze,
rising to
scrape the stars
